2015 Synergy Employees Transform with SLMsmart

Synergy Employees Transform with SLMsmart

SLMsmart-EU
The same day that the U.S. kicked off its SLMsmart 90-day Challenge* with dedicated Synergy customers and distributors, Synergy employees decided to participate in a challenge of their own. Though they were not in the running to win the grand prize offered to customers and distributors, they did have iPads and reputations at stake.

Their results are nothing short of amazing. By adhering to the recommended eating and exercise program, the group lost an average of 26 pounds per person.* A helpful SLMsmart app was released at the beginning of the challenge containing dozens of healthy recipes and exercise routines for weight management made simple. It’s incredible what healthy eating choices, exercise and the support of Synergy products can do for your health and your confidence.

Introducing the Top 3 winners!

1st Place: Jason Carling, Compliance Analyst

Lost 37 pounds*

Jason_Carling

“Over the last 11 years, I gained 80 pounds. I kept saying that I would manage my weight, but I
didn’t have the motivation to actually do it. I always thought, ‘How did I get to this point?’ People told me it was unhealthy to have the extra weight but I was functioning OK, so I didn’t worry about it. When Synergy introduced the 90-day Challenge I figured that if I wanted to manage my weight it was now or never. I had Synergy and my coworkers to support me which made the entire process so much easier. The resources this challenge provided to me helped me develop the willpower I needed to change. When my family went out to get burgers, I’d go with them, but I would wait until we got home to eat a meal suggested on the SLMsmart App. I fit in a medium shirt now! I can’t remember the last time I bought a medium. I’m no longer worried about how I look or if one of my shirts is unflattering on me. SLMsmart™ Health Shake and ProArgi-9+® played a huge part in my weight management routine. Learning portion control was key for me, and this challenge helped my mind and my body learn how to take control.”

2nd Place: Sarah Andrus, Operations Market Specialist

Lost 30 pounds*

Sarah_Andrus

“Thanks to this challenge, I ended up pushing myself farther than what I would have done on my own. I wanted to manage my weight and probably would have lost 10 pounds and felt satisfied with that. This challenge supported me to lose 30 and now I know how to manage my weight in a maintainable way. I’m fitting into clothes that I wore before I was pregnant with my first! I used to hate getting dressed for work and always looked forward to wearing sweatpants. The SLMsmart App helped me feel less intimidated by the grocery store and especially at the gym. I felt so self-conscious there, but going with a plan made everything better. Drinking SLMsmart became a treat for me because it was so yummy!”

3rd Place: Spencer Nance, Commissions Analyst

Lost 37 pounds*

Spencer_Nance

“When it came to managing my weight I always thought, ‘Where do I get started?’ In truth, switching to the SLMsmart program didn’t ask me to change too much in my routine. It’s simple to replace meals with a shake that is satisfying and tastes good. There isn’t a lot of preparation involved. I was surprised by how quickly my body started to change. I went into the 90-day Challenge having faith in the program. The feeling of losing weight was enough motivation for me to keep going. I definitely noticed a difference when I looked in the mirror and other people noticed too. While it’s great that Synergy offered a reward to those with the best transformations, managing my weight was a big enough reward for me.”

*The above results are not typical. The average person who uses the SLMsmart weight management program can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week. The SLMsmart weight management program consists of exercise, a nutritional diet, and Synergy products.

Synergy sponsors Olympic rowing coach on four-month journey

Synergy sponsors Olympic rowing coach on four-month journey
kjell
Kjell Tore Solvang coached Norway’s national rowing team and led them to win three Olympic gold medals, four World Championship gold medals and four European Championship gold medals. He is Norway’s most successful coach in summer sports.

Kjell_Tore_Solvang
Working in a culture with world-champion endurance athletes, Kjell understands that there are few limits to what the body can do. He believes that if you want to accomplish an amazing physical feat you simply need to train hard and never stop training. It’s all about priorities. Though he has lead rowing teams to victory time and time again, he believes there is still more to achieve.

This is why on May 2, 2015, just a few days ago, Kjell embarked on the most exhausting and trying excursion of his life.

Kjell will spend the next four months rowing 10-12 hours per day, taking himself around the Norwegian Coastline from the Swedish coast to the Russian border. This is, undoubtedly, a painstaking task, but Kjell has an additional motive to complete the journey: raising money for children suffering from brain tumors.

He’ll fish for food, sleep in his boat or in a tent on the shore, and have a constant supply of Synergy productProArgi-9+, Mistify, Phytolife and e9—to fuel his endurance.

His journey will be followed and broadcast on one of Norway’s biggest television stations. Synergy WorldWide will follow Kjell’s odyssey through the summer, cheering him on from Utah’s corporate office and around the world.

“Do not ask for an easy journey, but for a strong back.”
– Kjell Tore Solvang

Synergy Customer Completes “Toughest Footrace in the World”

Synergy Customer Completes “Toughest Footrace in the World”
Gregoire_collage
The Sahara Desert is one of the most inhospitable places on earth. Beneath the scorching Moroccan sun, temperatures regularly soar above 50 degrees C.  It is here, pelted by wind-whipped sands while fending off thirst and fatigue, that champions are forged in the seven-day, 256km Marathon des Sables.
Gregoire_Start
For the past 28 years, ultra-runners have flocked to this desolate landscape, eager to take on what’s known as “the toughest footrace in the world”. This year’s event found Synergy customer Grégoire Chevignard among its racers, a place he would have never envisioned himself a few years prior. He relied heavily on Synergy products to fuel him through his journey and finished the race strong sporting a Synergy-branded T-shirt and a smile of relief.

Grégoire would be the first to tell you that he is not a professional athlete. He has a regular, full-time job and a busy home life in Paris with his wife and three children. His racing experience began relatively modestly. After a 19 year hiatus from finishing his first and only marathon, he and his brothers signed up for a 10K as a family bet. Their terrible finishing times only fueled their competitive spirit; they immediately signed up for the Paris Marathon in April of 2014, giving them six months to train for the event.

As the event approached, Grégoire felt doubt creeping in, but instead of cancelling his entry he successfully diverted his pre-marathon panic by signing up for an even tougher race after the Paris Marathon. Now he would be worried about his 63K trail race the next month, which made the impending marathon seem like a much milder challenge. And thus his love for running began. In the past year, he has tackled more than a dozen races of varying distances (anywhere from 10K – 105K).

Synergy products at a time when he knew little about training with nutritional supplements, but since Mathilde taught him to use the products he said they’ve made a substantial difference in his performance. In his early running days, Grégoire raced on an empty stomach after experiencing many upset stomachs from traditional breakfast foods. While this cured the stomach pains, he was left with little energy. Now, mile after mile, he relies on SLMsmart Meal Replacement as his go-to racing fuel and as a recovery shake.

One of the biggest challenges Marathon des Sables racers face is the issue of food and nutrition. Since runners are expected to be self-sufficient and pack in all of the food they will need for the seven-day race, Gregoire knew he needed a lightweight, portable, and nutritionally dense food. He packed enough SLMsmart for two servings per day, one to drink prior to racing in the morning and one post-race to support his starved muscles.

“It showed in the rankings that while most racers’ speeds dwindled day after day, I had the energy to maintain mine,” he said.

While many may view the 256K Marathon des Sables as a daunting challenge just shy of pure insanity, to Grégoire, this was just another race.

“Nothing is extraordinary,” he said. “I’m not an Olympic athlete. I’m just an average person. I’m pretty convinced that anyone can do it. I didn’t start running thinking I would ever finish a distance longer than a marathon. Anything sounds incredible and impossible when you haven’t accomplished it, but just because you haven’t done something doesn’t mean you aren’t capable.”

Extreme Athlete Trains with Synergy Products

Extreme Athlete Trains with Synergy Products

This is 21-year-old mountain biking pro Oskar Macuk—Szczecin native, daredevil and Synergy enthusiast. If you happen to catch a mountain biking competition in Poland or its surrounding countries, you’ll most likely spot Oskar throwing endless backflips and barspins in zebra pants. What powers his performance, you ask? ProArgi-9+ and e9, to name a few.

“Synergy products are an important part of training for me because they help me push my limits as an athlete,” Oskar said.

While Oskar is best known for his insatiable appetite for adrenaline and jaw-dropping stunts, he is also a dedicated student studying physiotherapy and a classic rock fan who dreams of traveling the world one mountain biking competition at a time.

He lives the Dalai Lama’s words: “In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision,” a sentiment that is right in line with Synergy values.

We’re honored that competitive and inspiring athletes like Oskar are adding Synergy products to their training routines. Can’t wait to see the stunts that Oskar pulls next!

Transforming Minds with Healthy Living

 Transforming Minds with Healthy Living
With only one week left in the SLMsmart 90-Day Challenge, we’ve surveyed a few of our dedicated participants to see what has changed in their body transformation pursuit.
Healthy-Lifestyle
From what we’ve gathered so far, one major change is apparent in each participant we’ve talked to. Through the 90-day Challenge, these individuals have learned to reprogram their brains for healthy living. It hasn’t been an easy road for many, but with time and practice, participants have built the mental strength to exercise and make healthy meal choices thanks to SLMsmart coaches Drew and Lynn and the 90-day Challenge smartphone app.

“Beyond seeing a physical change in our participants, I’ve noticed that these people really believe in themselves now,” said SLMsmart Coach Drew Manning. “They have seen success and are so much more positive. While this has been a major learning process for our participants, it has also been an uplifting process. They’ve allowed themselves to love their bodies and what they are capable of.”

Challenge participants are coming out of the experience feeling in control of their health and their lives. Mental and emotional change are perhaps the most important elements of making real and lasting change.

“Before the challenge, if there was a bag a candy I’d be grabbing for it. I don’t care for it now. It only took a couple weeks to get to this point. I’ve found that my meal plan keeps me incredibly full to the point where I don’t think about food. I was overwhelmed at first; it was an emotional roller coaster, but your head clears up and you start understanding what you need to do. Subtly, the discipline I’ve learned in diet and exercise has leaked into other areas of my life. I have the determination to follow through on other goals I’ve set for myself, including goals in my Synergy business.”

Cody Marsh
Buckeye, Arizona

“My personal motto throughout this challenge has been ‘Do it today!’ What I mean by this is don’t let a lack of motivation stop from exercising. There are so many exercises you can do at home without equipment. Improvise! Putting my hiking boots on and carrying gallon jugs of water gets the job done. Drew taught me to constantly re-evaluate where I am in training and to push myself to do new workouts that will keep my heart rate up. I know what I need to do now to keep this going!”

Julie Russon
Pleasant Grove, Utah
JulieRusson
“Long-time patterns of stress eating and a negative self image put me through mental torment that resulted in never-ending weight gain. I was committed to free myself of this torment without little thought of what would actually happen. It wasn’t long before I realized that this experience was going to be a life changer if I would give it everything I had. I committed my mind and my body followed. I was frustrated at first, but I slowly realized my clothes feeling differently. Food no longer controls me and my confidence has returned. I’ve realized that no matter who you are, it’s never too late to change.”

These participants now have the tools to continue on this healthy path long after the challenge ends May 1, 2015. Participants are eager to unveil their unbelievable transformations and we can’t wait to see what they’ve accomplished.
