One of North America’s two newest Team Directors, Dr. Jim Sandberg is a man who finds it easy to be passionate about Synergy WorldWide. This passion, when combined with exemplary focus and confidence, has helped him a great deal and will continue to take him far in his business. From his home outside of Los Angeles, Dr. Sandberg was kind enough to spare some time for an interview, in which we spoke about his current momentum and some of the keys to his success.
About Dr. Jim Sandberg
The first thing you should know about Dr. Sandberg is that he is no stranger to health, fitness, nutrition or supplements. With an undergraduate degree in nutrition and a history of working with organizations including Mr. Olympia and Muscle & Fitness Magazine, this is one doctor who knows the value of quality supplementation.
“I was taking l-arginine before I knew about Synergy, because I’ve always known about how it stimulates Nitric Oxide. I’ve always worked with a lot of sports guys. I was always aware of a lot of supplements. But there is just nothing that even comes close to ProArgi-9+. That’s the crazy part. There’s not even a drug that comes close to this. With ProArgi-9+, there’s all this crazy stuff that we can heal. But on the sports market, you talk to so many people that work out and will spend hundredd if not thousands of dollars on different supplements, and they’ll do it even if it’s bad for them, even if it’s illegal, just to get a 1% bump, a 1% performance increase. But we can give them so much more than that, something so much better, it’s crazy. That’s why I’m doing this. Because it’s so easy to get fired up about it and no one knows about it. It’s just that good.”
About his Team Mentality
Dr. Sandberg is happy about his recent rank advancement, but when speaking with him, the noticeable excitement seemed to come when spoke about the success of his fellow Team Members. Perhaps this trait is the real key to his success.
“I’ve got guys like Bruce Lewandowski, Dr. Glenn Clearie, Dr. Douglas Pfeiffer, some of these guys that have only been involved since April, and now, just a couple weeks ago, they had 150 people at an event! Their volume is just going through the roof, they are having conference calls… these guys are doing some great things.”
Attending team events is another part of business building that Dr. Sandberg considers to be crucially important. While conversing about the recent event that he attended in Philadelphia, he said:
“It was a great event. If we are talking about events, the main reason my guys hosted the Pennsylvania event is because, back in April, when they went to the Business Builder Conference in Vegas, a light bulb came on in their heads. Before they were just kind of like ‘uh, I dunno. We kind of like the product, but we’ll see about the rest.’ But then they experience Vegas and BOOM. They started cranking it. They started kicking [tail]. Then they said ‘we want our own Vegas. They gave us education, they gave us motivation, training… we need to do that for our guys. We need to do our own Vegas.’ And they did it. They had their Vegas.”
Why Dr. Sandberg Attends Synergy Events
At Leadership Academy 2013 in Park City, UT.
“Every time I go I learn. The more you’re involved, the more you dive in and want to learn. You’re going to get better. Attending events ties you in. It gets you more tied in with who we are, where we are going, what works, what doesn’t… the events are cram courses in what we are doing.
You do that with anything that’s important, wouldn’t you? You go to your kids’ parent-teacher conference even though you are working with your kid everyday on his homework. You still go, even if you hear about the things you’ve worked on every day, you still want to go hear from the teacher, see how he’s doing, increase the potential success. It’s the same kind of thing. The more involved you are, the more successful you are going to be.
I just heard Marty Holker say something he’s been saying for years, but at this past event I heard it a little differently, and it made me think about things a little bit different. It’s good for you. It plugs you into a system that’s been built for you.”
Confidence and Consistency
“It’s easy to do this because I’m passionate about it. When you see what our product does, it’s pretty easy to get passionate about it. I think the passion and a little bit of working smart makes it pretty darn simple.
It doesn’t seem like work. I don’t ever feel like I’m pushing this on anybody, but I talk to a lot of people about it. All that I do is give people the information. I’ll talk to five guys today, and if they become distributors or if none of them even become customers, in the big scheme of things it won’t matter because I’m not going to do this for just one day. I’m going to be doing this everyday for the next three, four or five years. If I am consistent I will have success. I am never pushing on anyone, and no one ever feels like I’m pushing on them. But I talk to a lot of people and just ask ‘are you interested to know what I’ve been working with for the past couple of years?'”
The Need for Focus
“What I always try to explain to my team is this: You’ve got to have Synergy always somewhere in your vision. If it’s in the back of your head, you don’t see it very often, you don’t think about and you don’t do much. If it’s off to the side, off to the right, when you look to the right once in a while, you see it, you get a little involved and you get a little success.
If its straight out in front of you, no matter what you do all day long, you see it. All day long I’m involved in Synergy. When I go on my walks in the morning, I mean, I’m not doing work all the time, but I’m always thinking about it. So, on my walks, as I’m walking my dogs, I’m thinking about what I’m going to do, who I am gonna call, strategy, ideas… ‘What about this guy?’ ‘Why don’t I call him?’ ‘How can I get him motivated?’ …it’s always front and center, you know? I think you can use the same analogy for anything. If its important to you, it’ll be somewhere right in front of your vision and you’ll always be dealing with it.”
“I do want to go! I want to golf and do a little fishing and hang out with everyone. So, I’ll make sure I get the points.”
We hope to see Dr. Sandberg enjoying the beach with the rest of our Top 50 Challenge winners. Synergy is excited about his recent advancement, and we offer him a sincere “congratulations.” We are grateful for his time, his wise words, and for the great things he and his team will be accomplishing in the near future.
If you find yourself trying to get a soccer ball past Katherine Lynch, you are going to have your work cut out for you. Katherine, a senior at Montgomery High School in New Jersey, already has a few championships under her belt and she’s looking for more. Katherine is currently in the running for the title of New Jersey’s “Best Defender” because she plays hard, she plays smart, and she stays healthy.
Her mother, Synergy Team Member Dr. Teresa Lynch, believes in sharing the benefits of Synergy products with everyone, especially her family. For this reason, Katherine has the opportunity to experience Synergy supplements on a regular basis, and realize the great ways they affect her day and her soccer game. Synergy WorldWide: What do you love most about soccer? Katherine Lynch: It’s just something I love to do. I love the feeling it gives me when I play. It takes me away from stress. You just play, having fun with your best friends. SWW: You are a defensive player. Isn’t it true that players on defense have to be stronger than the strikers? KL: [laughs] Yeah.
SWW: So what is your training like? KL: During high school season, we practice five days a week, and we have two games per week. I’ll go to the weight room sometimes with my friend and do workouts. Then after I work out, after resistance training, I have a Maximum Protein shake when I get home.
SWW: Tell us how you use Synergy products to improve your performance. KL: Every morning I have the vanilla Health Shake for breakfast. Before I play, I’ll have a drink of ProArgi-9+, either the Active one or just regular.
SWW: How does that Health Shake breakfast affect your day? KL: It gives me energy, actually. After I drink it, I actually am pretty awake, whereas if I eat other things for breakfast like cereal or toast or something it makes me really tired. These shakes fill me up and keep me going till lunch.
SWW: What’s this upcoming season going to be like for your high school team? KL: We’re doing pretty well. We’re doing really well actually.
SWW: Are you going to win state? KL: We’re hoping to. Last year we actually had one of the greatest seasons in the history of our town, basically. We won our conference, our county, our section and we won state.
In the background, Katherine’s mother Terry is heard saying “Tell him you were the starting center!”
KL: And I was the starting center defender. My mom wants me to throw that in. But, yeah, it was a pretty crazy season that I’ll never forget.
SWW: Is it hard to keep good grades when you are a soccer star? KL: Actually maintaining my grades is harder out of [soccer] season. Being in season keeps me on a schedule and it keeps me grounded and I know I need to get stuff done, so I don’t procrastinate as much. So my grades aren’t a problem because I stay on top of them.
SWW: Health is not a huge focus for many people your age. Often, it’s not until people get older and start losing their health that they realize how important it is to make healthy choices. Why is it already so important to you? KL: Maintaining my health makes me happy. It gets me in a better mood. When I eat healthy I feel better, my energy is better… Everything is just more positive in my life when I’m being healthy. When it starts to slip away, like when I’m out of [soccer] season, I’m often not as happy. Then I’m reminded that being healthy and eating healthy is important to being happy.
As was mentioned earlier, Katherine is currently in the running to win the “New Jersey’s Best Defender” award from nj.com. Click the button and cast your vote for Katherine Lynch.
Double Presidential Mark Comer, one of Synergy’s top earners and most successful business builders, is always willing to give expert advice and share his remarkable story. The many Team Members who tuned into the Corporate Update Call earlier in the week heard him specifically mention the importance of events in the course of his career. Following the call, we asked him to elaborate on the subject. This is what he said:
“Believe me, I’ve been with Synergy for a long time, and I’ve seen it over and over again. Events inspire people to build, and people build for events. Just think about Korea. That market started with just a handful of people going to little local events, and now at the summit, there were over 4000 people. Events help us in more ways than we even realize. I like feeling the vibe at an event, and then using that to figure out what I need to do next. I’m always telling people to look for events to attend, even if it takes some travel. Great things just start happening when you attend.”
In the spirit of this great advice, here are a few upcoming North American events from our Synergy Events Calendar:

One month ago today, we posted a video and introduction to our 2014 Cancun vacation destination. Hopefully that inspired a series of daydreams for you, dreams in which you find yourself on those sandy beaches with the sun on your face and a tropical beverage in your hand.
Synergy North America Team Members: There are still three months left to qualify! Those dreams are within reach— let us help you make them a reality!
In these last three months, as you push yourself to qualify, here are a few fun facts about Cancun to keep you motivated:
The average annual temperature in Cancun is 80 degrees Fahrenheit, arguably the most perfect temperature of all temperatures.
Cancun is wonderfully sunny 240 days of the year. The other days may have a cloud or two, maybe even a little rain… but they call it paradise for good reason.
Cancun’s beaches have white sand, which is made from crushed coral and is not hot to the touch. Just think: Mother Nature spent all that time crushing up coral so you’d have a comfy place to relax next March.
In early 2010,
there was a major beach restoration project that included the rebuilding of the beaches in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel. The Mexican government invested $71 million US Dollars in the project, which restored 11 kilometers of the area’s beaches. Again, all that money was spent just for you, so that you would have a comfy place to relax with us next March.
“Cancun” is the Mayan word for “Nest of Snakes.” I guess snakes are pretty smart. Who wouldn’t want a nest in paradise? For those afraid of snakes… don’t worry. Statistically, you will have a very, very small chance of encountering a snake while vacationing at the Moon Palace with us.
This Cancun vacation will be very fun. We will have much more fun, however, if you are with us. That’s a fact.
Remember, you have until the end of the year to make this happen. We’ll be staying at the luxurious Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort from March 20-23 and we are extremely excited. For more information on what it takes to qualify for this Cancun vacation on Synergy’s dime, click here.
Earlier today, Dr. Rainer Böger called from Germany to be joined by a large number of listeners. As this month’s Cardio Call special guest, he explained ProArgi-9+ and the way it acts in the body. If you were unable to join the call don’t worry— the call has been recorded and you can listen to it here at your convenience.
Remember, you can listen to a variety of past Cardio Call recordings at any time by clicking the “Resources” tab at the top of this page.
Dr. Böger on ADMA
Some of the major achievements of Dr. Böger’scareer involve his research on asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) as a risk marker of vascular disease. In today’s Cardio Call, he took time to address the subject of ADMA and a misunderstanding that is becoming all too common in the industry.
Some have suggested that because ADMA blocks l-arginine that it thereby cancels out all potential benefits of ProArgi-9+ in the body. However, the truth as pointed out by Dr. Böger is that the presence of ADMA in a person’s body is the very reason high quality l-arginine supplementation is so necessary.
“We see 2 out of 3 people have a deficite in l-arginine,” says Dr. Böger. “This, in most people, is not true because they have such low levels of arginine in the blood, but because they have high levels of ADMA in the blood. When someone has high ADMA, that person is in need of additional arginine from a dietary supplement. People who have high ADMA have a high need of l-arginine from ProArgi-9+. We have data to show that for explicitly those with a high ADMA, l-arginine supplements will work well. For those with a low ADMA, the need to have a high dose of arginine supplements is not so great.”
Be sure to listen to the rest of the recording as he explores this subject in greater detail. About Dr. Böger
Professor Rainer H. Böger, MD, is a leading expert in L-arginine research and member of Synergy’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Board.
After receiving his initial medical training at Hannover Medical School in Hannover, Germany, Dr. Böger then received his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Pharmacology both in Hannover and at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, CA.
Dr. Böger is currently the Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Director of the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at Hamburg University Medical Center, Germany. He is also Director of the Clinical Trial Center North at Hamburg University.
Dr. Böger’s scientific work centers on the early diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular related diseases. Dating back to the beginning of his medical career, Dr. Böger has been heavily involved in the research and treatment of cardiovascular related diseases. In 1991, while working closely with pharmaceutical drug companies to develop treatments that could combat and alleviate such diseases, he became highly interested in nitric oxide (NO) and its effects on the vascular system.
Over 23 years of academic research has been conducted by Dr. Böger in basic science and clinical studies related to L-arginine and its influence on the body’s ability to produce NO.
Dr. Böger collaborates with renowned institutions like the Mayo Clinic and Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Böger’s extensive knowledge, expertise, and ongoing research clearly set him apart as one of the world’s leading L-arginine experts
Join us for next month’s Cardio Call on November 13, 2013.
