You may have heard of oxidative stress and how it’s wreaking havoc on people’s health. But what is it, and why is it plaguing so many?
What is oxidative stress?
Oxidative stress is a disturbance in the balance between the production of reactive oxygen species (free radicals) and antioxidant defenses.
What are the effects of oxidative stress?
When your body has an overage of free radicals, they can do damage to fatty tissue, DNA, and proteins and they also have a negative effect on aging.
Can I get rid of free radicals completely?
The answer is, no. But you don’t need to! Oxidative stress is caused when the amount of antioxidants in your body becomes disproportionate with the amount of free radicals. Everyday foods, living conditions, and stresses cause free radicals in your body. So, if you focus on increasing the amount of antioxidants in your body, the free radicals that you take in every day will be hindered from causing health issues.
How can I avoid oxidative stress in my body?
